WEEK 4
LECTURE
Deeper and deeper... Everything seems to become more and more detailed and interesting in the same way. The lecture today is about measured drawings, a set of line drawings that accurately and precisely describe the subject building in its existing condition in details. This type of drawing is meant for surveys, restoration and renovation purposes.
Here are some essential actions that should be done during site inspections, initial site visit, remember to equipped with measuring tools and necessary equipments, give attention to finishes, details, structural and decorative features.
Projects must be well planned and estimated, which includes an outline of recording procedures, a list of drawings, an estimate of number and type of photographs, a progress schedule using bar chart as well as an estimated time budget or cost.
These are a few approaches in establishing the accurate geometry, one of it is to use the grid system. It involves rectilinear grid through and around the building. Measurements were taken from points on the building to resultant gridlines. It is considered one of the most advantageous application to irregular geometry buildings. Grid lines spaced at 1500mm (5’0”) on centre & the points of intersections are marked.
Last but not least, photographs is the most essential part in site inspection. It is the primary method of documentation and to show supplemetal records. Moreover, details, textures, colours, artifacts, furnitures and so much more could be recorded in photographs,
we could just review every photos taken for details instead of going to the site again.
TUTORIAL
After the lecture was done, the lecturer straight away gave us a task to draw a drawer with a stopper to proof that we did listen to the lecture. All of us have to show her our drawings or else we are not allowed to go home. Below shows the drawing of drawer I have drawn.
HOMEWORK
After the turotial was done, we were assigned with a new task to be done at home. Which is to draw a detail drawing of any kind of wardrobe with specifications. I choose to draw the wardrobe in my room provided by the owner of my current house which is kind of simple, tall and thin. Below shows the detail drawing of my choosen wardrobe.
